The Morning Light is Breaking

The Morning Light is Breaking celebrates the morning and the natural world that God created.  Written by the founder of the American Bands of Mercy, George T. Angell, these words celebrate the morning when “darkness disappears” also as a metaphor for the “Bands of Mercy coming” (v.1) who march for “kindness and protection / To beast, and bird, and man” (v. 4).  This kindness is an additional metaphor for a global “reign of kindness” (v. 1) and “peace on earth appears” (v. 2).  With a fast rhythm with  sixteenth-note runs and an engaging melody by H. Kotzschmar, it is a fun song to sing.
