Sounding Childhood

A Closing Hymn

A Closing Hymn, words by S. T. Coleridge (famed British poet) set to the hymn-tune "Manoah" by Lowell Mason (famed American hymn-composer), was intended to end every Band meeting, as it did each of our own practices.  Taken from Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, the words yet apply to the animal-welfare ideologies of the Bands:
v. 1 Farewell, farewell!  but this I tell . To thee, thou wedding guest!
He prayeth well, who loveth well, Both man and bird and beast.

v. 2 He prayeth best who loveth best.  All things, both great and small;
For the dear God who leveth us, He made and loveth all.
